Deuxième sortie de Yu, Depression marque un grand pas en avant par rapport à The Summer. Si ce dernier mettait en exergue une aliénation intéressante par rapport au monde, Depression va plus loin puisque Yu met en avant une aliénation par rapport à lui-même. Si les mélodies sont répétitives, lancinantes, elles semblent se trouver au-delà du monde, ce qui leur octroie une certaine grâce. Yu donne enfin de la voix (elles sont encore malheureusement trop rares), une voix fantomatique et irréelle.

From Penitent Shadows... est un autre split impliquant cette fois No Point in Living et le one-man band mexicain Astarot ; pour compenser l'absence de ce dernier sur cette version et pour éviter qu'on l'accuse de feignantise (note de la rédaction : absolument personne n'a dit ça), Yu ajoute deux pistes en bonus. Il bascule dans du DSBM pur et dur : le désespoir transpire dans les riffs et la batterie monotone ; les interludes acoustiques renforcent l'impression de solitude. Triste et efficace.

Endless Suffering est incroyable. Bien sûr, cet album est déjà incroyable par sa durée : même quand on sait que Yu est boulimique de travail, on embarque pour un voyage qui dure 1h30, avec un morceau-fleuve de 40 minutes dans le lot. Mais ce qui est le plus impressionnant, c'est le talent de Yu à nous happer dans son monde torturé. Si Endless Suffering retourne à une base de DSBM très noir, Yu sait distiller ce qu'il faut de mélodies, nous attirant vers la mort comme le feraient des sirènes.
